When you think of an old man, the first thought that comes to your mind is an old man in front of the TV, walking with the house slippers, holding a cane, or maybe sitting on the front porch surrounded by nephews.
No one can believe or imagine an old man on a heavy metal concert. Here is a story of two German seniors who decided to spend their precious time on a heavy metal concert. These two lived in a rural district of Dithmarscher, Germany, and they escaped from their nursing home and attend a heavy metal music festival.
In Hamburg, the yearly Wacken Open Air music festival is taking place and this is one of the largest heavy metal festivals worldwide. This place is about a 25-mile trek from their nursing home. The concert often features really popular bands like Judas Priest, Death By Sorry, Danzig, and Cannibal Corpse.
There were more than 75,000 other heavy metal fans for the four-day festival and these two men too joined.
According to the Washington Post:
“Peter Berndt, a spokesman for the Itzehoe police department, said the two men were thought to have made their way to the festival by foot and public transport, though it is unclear when exactly they arrived in Wacken and how much time they spent at the festival.”
Even though they enjoy the time of their lives there, their caretakers noticed their absence and called the police. A bit disoriented, and dazed seniors were found at 3 am by authorities.
A spokesperson for the Itzehoe police department Peter Berndt said:
“They were then taken to the medical tent on the festival site and were sent back by taxi at around 6:30 am. We had to explain to them why they had to go home — but in the end, they went back voluntarily.”
Police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld told public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk:
“They obviously liked the metal festival. The care home quickly organized a return transport after police picked them up.”
Not only these two seniors, but there are also many senior citizens who attend this concert, as this reckless adventure reignites a flame in their souls and leaves fantastic memories that last for a lifetime.
