This Is How Sand Looks Magnified Up To 300 Times

We all know that it’s small or insignificant a grain of sand. But this stereotype has turned on its head by Dr. Gary Greenberg’s microscopic photography. It has shown that each grain of sand can be beautiful and unique with his photographs of minuscule grains of sands up to 300 times.

Greenberg is a wonderful man who invented the high-definition 3D microscope that he takes his pictures on, resulting in 18 U.S. patents under his name. He was a photographer and a filmmaker until he turns 33 and then he moved from LA to London and earned a Ph.D. in biomedical research. He would need to document them with his unique appreciation for biological and scientific curiosities and for the optical technologies.

According to the location, the sand composition can vary drastically. Dr. Greenberg has taken the subject of his amazing micro-photography the coastal sands in Hawaii, where he is located. The sand is images are full of remnants from various tropical sea organisms large and small. The sand on other coasts can be including a totally different set of rocks, minerals and organic matter that depends on the temperature, surf conditions, and marine environment.
