A prolific actor who made everyone spellbound was Robin Williams. He was a comedian and a powerhouse of energy. He suffered from the second most common neurodegenerative dementia, Diffuse Lewy Body Dementia. He died by suicide himself on August 11, 2014.

The world lost a giant of the entertainment industry and one of the noblest and wisest souls to have graced the earth when actor Robin Williams committed suicide in August 2014. Williams always made people laugh his whole life, but he fought inside demons that he could not conquer.  We all can remember his movie roles. He inspired an entire class of students to do what they truly love and not bow down to pressure in Dead Poets Society. He essayed the role of a hurting widower and professor who makes an unruly and rebellious young genius with many unresolved issues realize his potential in Good Will Hunting. He also played a woman with elan and tickled our funny bone in Mrs. Doubtfire.  According to the records Robin Williams killed himself because he was depressed, but his wife Susan Williams set the record straight.”It was not depression that killed Robin. Depression was one of let’s call it 50 symptoms and it was a small one,” she said in an interview.

According to her, Williams was suffering from Diffuse Lewy Body Dementia or Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), the second most common neurodegenerative dementia after Alzheimer’s, and that was the reason his suicide. Williams had to hold on in the few months leading up to his death because of this disease. Heightened levels of anxiety, delusions and impaired movement were some of its symptoms and he had been suffering from those. Williams is gone, but his legacy lives on with the many wise words.

Here are some of Williams’ most inspirational quotes that will stay with us forever.
