The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has established in 1998. The aim of this foundation is to protect ‘the world’s last wild places and saving vulnerable wildlife from extinction.’ He was only 24 years old back then. Even after 20 whole years later, his dream is to make the world a better place. He has donated millions to charity, apart from that DiCaprio has also bought Blackadore Caye Island, off the coast of Belize, only to preserve its mangroves from deforestation.
He has been spotted working with numerous environmental organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund over the years. LDF has been recorded to fund over 200 projects in 50 countries and five oceans, which support 132 organizations till date.

The actor turned 44 earlier in this month. He made a donation through LDF that became a big story around the town. In order to combat the very real problem of climate change, he has donated a whopping $100 million to organizations who are working ‘on the front lines in every corner of the globe working to protect the earth and all of its inhabitants from climate change and the array of environmental crises it has created’.
DiCaprio said it started with the ‘simple idea’ of ‘getting critical funding to those who could have the greatest impact’ on the environment and ‘make a real difference speaking about LDF at a recent function that celebrated its 20th anniversary.
He said that, “Since 1998, we have supported over 200 projects on every continent and in every ocean from habitat and species conservation, renewable energy, climate change, indigenous rights, and more. I am pleased to announce $11 million in new grants across our six program areas, bringing the total financial impact of LDF to over $100 million.”
DiCaprio does quite a bit on his part to make amends even though he has received his fair share of criticism for living his life king size, zooming around in private jets and supercars. He also lives in a fully solar-powered house, and he is also reported to be a vegan who is against fossil-fuel and meat industries.
His actions are not merely a show to distract fans; you can see the two-decade-long success story LDF has to share. DiCaprio has in fact even used his Hollywood connections to spread awareness among people. He has talk about how important voting is recently appearing in a video with Brad Pitt.
