The Four Elements Of True Love According To Buddha

You can’t make true love last a lifetime by only having the feeling of true love. There are many things to strengthening love instead of saying you are in love. According to Buddha, there are four elements that make love lasting and strong.

Maitri

Maitri

Maitri is a kind of kindness which means you just cannot know to love; you must know how to love. Even though you are truly loving someone, sometimes you may not be loving them right. This is having observation and understanding your partner on a deeper level.

How to develop?

You need to pay attention to your partner and make an honest and true effort to actually understand them in order to develop this. You also need to listen to them talk and notice everything.

Karuna

Karuna which means compassion is understanding and feeling the pain that your loved one is going through. Then you can help them and make them get through their pain and stop hurting.

How to develop?

You can develop this by communicating and talking. Ask your partner to open up their situation and share their pain with you. You only can soothe and help your partner. You can’t love them without trying to help them hurt less.

Mudita

Mudita is happiness. The love should always be a source of happiness, love and light. It cannot be the true love if your love is not making you the happiest. You can make the hearts get closer and fulfill your life with happiness. Love should feel like nothing you have felt ever before.

How to develop?

You only have to do things that both of you have fun doing individually, together. Happiness is about little things.

Upeksha

Upeksha means freedom. One has to have individual freedom even in a relationship. A person has to feel accepted as their true, unapologetic selves and have the freedom to just be.

How to develop?

Without constantly trying to keep in interested and on their toes find comfort in each other’s company.
