Australian artist and photographer Christian Spencer has been living in Rio de Janeiro since 2001. Brazil’s nature and rich biodiversity have greatly influenced his artistic style throughout the years. He produced many amazing creations that took the heart of everyone all over the world ever since moving the country.
One day Christian saw some Jacobin hummingbirds flying around his verandah. They literally produced an interesting rainbow effect when the sun struck their wings at a certain angle. He took some amazing shots and eventually they become a series he titled Winged Prism.

Any special techniques haven’t been used by Christian when capturing the photos. The rainbow effect is produced naturally.

The artist has captured these majestic little birds before. Christian released a film titled The Dance of Time where he captured the movement of hummingbirds’ wings back in 2011. The film received 10 international awards and three best film honors. But the project wasn’t over yet. He decided to capture this unique phenomenon with his camera few years later and the results were really amazing.

Christian said he doesn’t use any special techniques or filters when capturing photos of the hummingbirds in an interview with My Modern Met.
The artist has never thought that this was reality and that he receives emails every day from people who were touched by his images.
