It’s not something you hear about every day, but occasionally, people decide to have plastic surgery. Some might want to enhance their nose, breasts, or lips, or perhaps just add a little radiance to their face.
However, Jessica Alves, who was previously known as Rodrigo Alves, took this to an entirely different level, transforming her look into that of a human Barbie doll.
It’s perfectly fine to feel less than satisfied with your appearance. Regardless of what changes you make, always keep in mind that you are beautiful and capable of achieving incredible things, no matter what others might say.
While some individuals opt for plastic surgery to modify their looks, Jessica Alves went beyond that, completely reinventing her image.
Jessica Alves – transition
Let’s begin Jessica’s story in early 2020. In an interview with The Mirror, Jessica Alves, born Rodrigo, publicly embraced her identity as transgender.
“I’ve been known as Ken, but inside, I’ve always felt like Barbie,” the 36-year-old shared. “I finally feel like the true me—glamorous, beautiful, and feminine.”
From that day forward, she adopted the name Roddy and began using “she” and “her” pronouns.
Jessica embraced her identity as transgender and began her transformation journey. She started hormone therapy, which helped her develop feminine curves, and now sports blonde hair extensions and glamorous false eyelashes. Additionally, she wears a D-cup bra. In July, she proudly announced her new name, Jessica.
“For many years, I tried to live as a man. I even had a fake six-pack and muscle enhancements, but I was deceiving myself,” she shared. “I’m a woman at heart and have always had a feminine mindset. Now, my appearance reflects who I truly am.”
Jessica gained fame as a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018 and collaborated with Italian plastic surgeon Giacomo Urtis on a song titled Plastic World last year. With over a million followers on Instagram, she previously worked as a flight attendant.
So, what led her to this point? Jessica Alves, formerly known as Rodrigo Alves, was born on July 30, 1983, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With a British father and a Brazilian mother, her grandfather encouraged her individuality by gifting her dolls, allowing her to express herself freely.
Jessica Alves – childhood
A positive environment for any child is one where they can embrace their true selves without conforming to societal expectations. This freedom contributed to Jessica’s early fascination with dolls, which she showcased in her own unique way.
As a child, I embraced my feminine side, enjoying playing with dolls and trying on my mother’s dresses and heels. However, during my teenage years, I struggled with my appearance.
“I love to laugh, but it made my nose look wider, which really bothered me. My family often joked about where I got that unfortunate feature from, and it pushed me to get it fixed first.”
Jessica Alves relocated to London to attend the esteemed London School of Economics. In 2004, she made the decision to have her first plastic surgery, which marked the beginning of her journey to change her looks, leading to an ongoing desire for more.
“I’ve never felt fully satisfied after any procedure, and that feeling still lingers,” Jessica shared.

Twenty years later, Jessica has undergone more than a hundred surgeries.
Her procedures include nose jobs, Botox and fillers, pec implants, liposuction on her jaw and legs, hair transplants, calf shaping, a fake six-pack, and fillers for her arms. Additionally, she had four ribs removed and a “cat-eye” lift.
In total, Jessica has spent over half a million dollars on these surgeries. Eventually, her classmates struggled to recognize her. It became evident that she was dealing with morphodysphoria, a condition where a person has a distorted perception of their own body.
From the start, Jessica Alves, who was known as Rodrigo back then, aspired to transform into a male version of the Ken doll.
Now, her goal is to become a Human Barbie.
However, her quest for the perfect body has not been without risks. In April 2016, Jessica was hospitalized due to necrosis, which caused her skin to deteriorate.
A hole began to form in her nose, and her septum seemed to be coming apart. Simultaneously, she experienced breathing difficulties and had to seek treatment at a hospital in Malaga, Spain. According to the Daily Mail, she received antibiotics through an IV drip every eight hours.
Dangerous infection
Doctors have cautioned that the infection could potentially damage her nose and spread to her face, leading to gangrene.
“I’m struggling to breathe through my nose and feel awful. It has collapsed. I have an appointment with a consultant in London in six weeks, and I’m hoping to schedule surgery soon after that,” Jessica Alves shared.
Two years ago, she had a chemical peel in Spain, which involved applying an acid-based lotion to her face. After allowing it to soak in, she was supposed to peel away the old skin to reveal the new layer underneath.
Unfortunately, the experience was quite uncomfortable. “It was pretty painful, and my face is red now. It feels like it’s burning,” she explained. “It’s very sunny here in Marbella, so I can’t go outside for the next few days unless I use a lot of sun protection.”
Jessica has faced two frightening situations. However, in 2019, after her 11th rhinoplasty, her nose began to collapse. The last surgery was intended to correct issues from a previous Botox treatment.
From Rodrigo to Jessica Alves
Jessica shared with the Daily Mail, “Initially, I was really happy with the results of my surgery, but now I need to undergo another procedure because it’s sinking, and to be honest, I’m scared.”
She expressed her concerns, saying, “Each surgery carries more risks than the last, and I’m anxious that the doctors won’t be able to provide a permanent solution for my nose.”
Over the years, Jessica has gained significant recognition worldwide for her appearance. While opinions vary on her decision to transform her body, the most important thing is that she feels comfortable and happy in her own skin.
As previously mentioned, Jessica Alves has always recognized her feminine tendencies. However, it was only last year during a photo shoot that she made the decision to transition.
“In just a month, I was diagnosed with gender dysmorphic disorder and given the option to start the appropriate medication for my transition,” she told the NY Post in January. “Before, people noticed me because I had a very androgynous and unusual look for a man. Now, I hope they see me as a beautiful woman.”
Not done yet
Jessica was all set for her transformation. She had undergone procedures to remove her Adam’s apple and six-pack, along with breast augmentation and injections in her knees, hips, and feet, totaling around $35,000.
Additionally, Jessica had face feminization surgery and began hormone therapy.
In July, during an appearance on the British show This Morning, she shared that she still had a few more procedures to complete her transition.
“I still need two or three surgeries to finish my journey. After that, I promise I’m done with plastic surgery,” she mentioned. “There’s only so much one can endure. Every surgery is daunting, but it’s necessary for me to become who I truly am. I have to go through this.”
At 41, the final surgeries Jessica needs to complete her transition are penile inversion and the removal of her testicles.
“I love everything about it—visiting lovely hair salons, getting my nails, eyebrows, and eyelashes done, and shopping for dresses, high heels, and sexy lingerie,” she said, now living in London.
New nose job
Jessica has undergone nose surgeries in Brazil, Colombia, Iran, the United States, and Istanbul. She has experienced difficulties with her breathing, and just a couple of weeks ago, she needed to have another surgery on her nose.
A number of doctors turned down the surgery because they were unsure of how to proceed. Eventually, she discovered a doctor in Istanbul who utilized cartilage from her ear. Now, she can breathe normally once more.

Covered in bandages after FIFTH face lift
In 2024, it appears that TV personality Jessica Alves is still dedicated to her journey of enhancing her looks.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the 41-year-old recently left a Turkish hospital in October, wrapped in bandages following her fifth facelift. Alves shared that after dissolving her previous dermal fillers, she was left with almost four inches of loose skin on her face. To remedy this, she opted for a “ponytail facelift,” a less invasive technique that utilizes staples along the hairline to tighten the skin on her face and neck.
She was spotted in a wheelchair, donning a headscarf, as she was assisted into a waiting car post-surgery. The images quickly gained attention online, as the scene was quite striking.
“If I pinched myself, three or four inches would come off in my hand. It was very elastic, like rubber, so the doctor was able to remove five inches of my skin,” the 41-year-old explained.
