People Who Talk to Their Pets Are Actually Smarter Than Those Who Don’t

If you have a habit of talking to pets, plants or any inanimate object, it is a sign of intelligence. It’s not that you’re a crazy cat lady, you’re just smart. The attribution of human traits, emotions, or intentions to non-human entities is called anthropomorphizing.

“Historically, anthropomorphizing has been treated as a sign of childishness or stupidity, but it’s actually a natural byproduct of the tendency that makes humans uniquely smart on this planet,” said Nicholas Epley, a professor of behavioral science at the University of Chicago.

You’ll be having a great deal of time conversing with your pet if you are a pet owner. Even though some who will look upon this habit with disdain, chatty pet owners actually have the right idea. We shouldn’t stop talking to the pets even though they’re never going to be able to hold up their end of the conversation.

People who are with these strange behaviors may feel as they are sane ones. But studies have proved that speaking with pets is a sign of intelligence. This is known as anthropomorphizing. This is when humans begin to ascribe human emotions and traits to entities that are decidedly not human.

Don’t think that it’s a childish or a silly act. This act is one of the byproducts of being human on planet Earth. Anthropomorphism is the human brain which always finds human-like qualities in non-human entities. Anthropology experts who have studied the topic believe that adults who talk to their pets are displaying intelligence.

According to a Harvard study, humans are also likely to provide animals with human names and refer to them by their gender pronouns. There are no other living beings on the planet with the ability to locate human behaviors in the most random inanimate objects. When we begin to assign our pets with certain character traits that are typically found in humans Anthropomorphism occurs.

We are still unaware of what the mind is capable of as human brain is so complicated. The brain is also attempting to find human characteristics in inanimate items and that is s sign of creativity. With our words and gestures, pets also get the ability to learn more. And that is a sign of evolution.

Dogs have the ability of learning things than cats do. Cats also have other ways to communicate with people though they do not care to in most instances.

So, don’t hesitate to talk with your pets. But if someone says something, direct them to the results of these studies.

If you like it, share it with your friends.
