Nature is full of different species and animals can teach us so many important lessons. Among all of them, momma birds are the best teachers.
Hummingbird is one of the smallest and smartest birds you will ever see. A cute little hummingbird has made a nest under a broadleaf. The momma wanted to protect her babies and she found the leaf as the perfect protection.
Bianca Caroline Soares who is a conservationist has spotted the hummingbird at a Paraguayan nature reserve. Even though she has seen so many nests in the jungle near her house this nest was special as it has leafy roof.
This was the most ingenious nest among five different nests she saw that day. She was the first to see the new chicks after a few weeks.
There were two chicks and they were perfectly protected from the bad weather. The chicks will fly away and build nests with their own families once they are strong enough.
Bianca wanted to inspire others to take better care of the planet, so she thought of sharing the photos to her Instagram account.
“To date, my favorite photograph. Too much cuteness in one photo.”
338 species of hummingbirds have spread all around the world. Hummingbirds play a major role in the pollination of our essential crops, so they are important for the biosystem.
These birds can fly up to 4,000 meters high, and reach plants that most birds can’t even get any near.
As they are really small, their size makes them a perfect target for predators. Some species are added to the list of endangered species.
How to protect hummingbirds?
- You can set up a feeder in a shaded area to supplement nectar for the little birds. Hang a clean bowl or bottle full of sugary solution. As reflections may scare the birds away you need to keep the feeder away from your window.
- Keep your cat away from the feeder or any spot these birds go to as cats can easily catch hummingbirds.
- Avoid using insecticides near the feeder as they are sensitive to chemicals.
- Join hummingbird organizations to support their efforts.
