Facebook is the most popular social media network with an estimate of 230 million users. We all love to post about our lives to be more connected with family and friends. We have list 13 things that you should immediately remove from your Facebook to protect yourself and your friends.

Do Not List These 13 Things On Facebook

Your Relationship Status

You can put your relationship status only when you’re married and wear a wedding band to support it every day of your life. There are many people who remain in the dating circle by sharing a play-by-play of your life. But try to keep that information only to people those who are meaningful.

Pictures of Children

Don’t put your child’s picture online as this child might be too young to consent to their photo publicly being placed on the internet and your child is at risk if that picture falls into a hand of predator. So, don’t put your child’s picture on Facebook.

Your Child’s School/Daycare/Etc

Same as the previous point, you should not post your child’s information as it can be used by an unwanted person to gain access to your child.

Questionable Pictures of You

Facebook is a simple place to connect with your friends, but now it has become a place that potential employers look to determine if you’re a desirable employee. It doesn’t add good material to your resume, if your feed is filled with drunken photos, parties, or dumb stunts.

“Friends” Who Aren’t Real Friends

Facebook is also a kind of contest. It doesn’t matter how high your friends-list number gets. You could be putting yourself at a risk by accepting random requests from strangers. It happens especially when you share a lot of your personal information.

All Credit/Debit/Bank Information

This can be easy to forget but a no brainer. Always don’t forget to delete your card information if you’ve purchased something through Facebook, if not it could be stored online and stolen from hackers.

Your Phone Number

You don’t give your phone number to anyone you meet, so why would you post it on your Facebook.

Posts You’re Tagged In

You should make sure that not all of these posts are necessarily unwanted. Depending on the other people’s privacy settings photos or posts that you’ve been tagged in are able to be seen by a lot of people than you think. Untag yourself in everything that represents you negatively.

Your Birthday

When you post your birthday on Facebook, there is a flood of birthday wishes flattering. But, it could be easier for identity thieves to access key information about you.

Your Manager/Supervisor/Boss

If you post something simple like posting about a night out with friends, posting about an annoying happening at work, or even stating your political views can become highly sticky if your boss sees it. So, avoid all those things.

Location Services

If you let people know where you are and what you’re doing, you’re letting the bad guys know that your house is empty and clear to break into and this could be very dangerous. So, don’t share your location.

Your Vacation Destination

You may sometimes share where you are even when the location service turned off. Consider avoiding that to protect you from all kinds of risk. Just save that information for later instead of posting pictures of where you are while you’re there, or where you’re going before you leave.

Your Travel Tickets and Plans

When you get a boarding pass to a tropical island or cross-country trip don’t share them on Facebook as if a predator can gets hold of it and decides to meet you where you land. You also don’t want people to know you’re away from home as it could create an opportunity for burglary. So, avoid these kinds of photos.

When you post something online, you never know if something you post will exist forever in other locations or put you at risk. So, better be safe !
